Johnny’s Run

        Date:  June 7, 2009

        Time:  Registration begins at 7:00 am

                    Race begins at 8:30 am

        Distance: 5K Run & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk

        Location: Mentor Fire Department #1 on Heisley Road~ Mentor, Ohio

        Run Divisions: Men/Women 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over

        Awards: Top 3 overall Men & Women  ~   Top 3 in each age division

        Fee:  $12 advanced registration

                  $15 day of registration

                  $10 Fun Run/Walk

All proceeds will benefit the “John J. Kovach Memorial Fund” which will go to the Riverside Local School District in his memory.

John Kovach was a young man full of life with so many dreams ahead of him. He served in the US Army for 5 years. While serving he was deployed to Iraq . Even while he was away from his family and friends he still had a smile and positive attitude. He safely returned home from Iraq after serving 15 months over there. Unfortunately, seven months after returning home Johnny lost his life in a motorcycle accident on June 3, 2007. Johnny was a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend. He will always be a Hero in his Mother’s eyes. He had a heart of gold with so much love to give. He was always full of life no matter what the situation was. He was a very caring person and would take the time to talk to anyone.  His family came first and he always wanted to spend time with his sister, little brothers and son.  Johnny was only 23 years old and his life was cut too short, but he was still able to live his life to the fullest.  I believe Johnny is in a better place now but he will always live in many of our hearts forever.  He is dearly missed and he will never be forgotten.

 

                        The race will pass the accident site on W Jackson St. between Heisley Rd. and Mill Morr. A cross is there in his memory.

I further acknowledge that the race course may contain uneven                                         surface conditions, including but not limited to pot holes, curbs, sewer covers which may create a risk. I also acknowledge that the race is on public roads and I accept these risks.  Therefore, in                                 consideration of the acceptance of my entry, I, for myself, my executors and administrators waive any and all rights and claims for injuries or damages I may have against the City of Mentor, City of                                 Painesville Township, Achilles Running Shop and the Mentor Fire Department and will not hold them responsible for any and all injuries I may suffer in conjunction with this event.
